Ploughing a field in Lancaster County. Irony of this image is the way the image is split into two, on the lower side is the Amish with their simple lifestyle and divergent from the upper half of the image with the school bus and electrictiy poles and lines. The Amish self educate and shun the use of electricity.

The weather for the first two days made shooting a challenge but this scene lent itself to the rain.

Churchtown parochial school picnic softball game between the 'pops' and children. This celebrates trhe second to last day of the school year. It was a good game with good humour. The pops won the best of three. The school is shared by both Mennonites and Amish. (Mennonites wear the black hats)

The Nature Conservancy, which now has 40% of the Island protected, owns this beautiful piece of the island. The dry stone walls were created by clearing the land of stones, left by glaciation.

Shad is an understory shrub that flowers in spring. The largest examples on earth are here where there was no overlying canopy, which has alowed these bushes to grow into trees. They bloom for a mere week....and this was the week.

Water from the melting glacier carved the hollow underneath the glacier and the meltwateer then flowed 60 miles to the ocean. Shad is an understory shrub that flowers in spring. Scott Comings of the Block Island Banding Station, retrieves a yellow warbler from a special net that doesn't damage the birds. The warbler will be banded and released after all the necessary data is recorded. Jamieson ? helps and holds the bags used to transport the birds to the weighing and banding station.
